I have my cool mist hooked up to my FC(one on top, bottom one will be made when i get some PVC joints)<--poor
anyway, i had my cool mist on for about 3hours and only got Rh up to 85-87. I have a small hole on the other side of the FC. about 1/16inch. its on the opposite side as the hose. should i cover this hole up? the lid is not tight case u know how plastic can be(warped/bad fits). I didn't have any casings in their. but when i have them in will its bump the RH up to 95???? I have a digital hyrdometer i got at petsmart for 10bucks!! the old one was 30bucks...it says im at 97Rh....???
I used the search tool and found some answers, but everyones set up is different and i wanted the pros opinion

I think that to get higher than 85 you need perlite or ultrasonics Although I do not belive that ultra sonics can be used alone. Your display might be off too. I would just make sure that you put some vermiculite around the cakes I belive that is called "dunk and roll" so that your cakes are somewhat cased.

a Coolmist is best for air exchange, it provides very little humidity. If you want humidity, better do a PMP or use a humidifier.

And, get it off the floor. 90% of all contaminants in a room are within 12" of the floor, so you're simply forcing nasty, contaminated air into your terrarium. If you're doing cakes, shut off the cool mist and use perlite. A two inch perlite layer will provide 98% humidity. A cool mist is more effective for a greenhouse type setup where you're using cased substrates that prefer a humidity around 80 to 85%. Some people put a cool mist on a timer to come on for a minute or two several times per day for air exchange, so they don't have to fan. RR

how often do you have your fans on for air exchange? If constant that might be sucking the humidity out.

A greenhouse is much bigger and air exchange isn't as big a problem. Furthermore, if you're doing cased substrates, your terrarium will maintain humidity just from the trays inside. You really don't need anything else. You also don't want to go over 85% or so. RR

You can add a 5-15 gallon submersible aquarium heater to the coolmists tank to get plenty of extra RH in your chamber. Use distilled or filtered water for filling it. The heater will stick to the bottom of the tank heating the water dramatically to improve RH. They are only $13. Turn it up to high and have a timer set to on for 15 minutes every 2 hours. You may have to tweak the timer a bit, but not much. That seems good for me.
