Cold Shocking
    #483115 - 12/07/01 01:39 PM (21 years, 11 months ago)

Sorry this might be a dumb question. This is my first attempt at growing. I am using vermiculite and brown rice flour in half pint jars. The jars are 100% covered in that white stuff. They have not yet started pinning and it has been like a week since they were 100% covered. Do you think cold shocking would make them start to pin and how about would I go about cold shocking them.
Thanks

well, if they're still in the jars, it might be hard to get pins cuz pins NEED air. Period.

Cold shocking is just lowering the temp for a night. It can be the fridge (maybe run the fridge hotter the night they're in there)

It's supposed to help, anyways.

my friend had some shrooms growing in some of his jars. Some say cold shcoking isn't needed. Anno said he did it, and well anno said to so do it. Take your jars and put them in zip lock bags and put them in your fridge for a day. Make sure the zip locks are sealed because as the air cools it loses volume and will suck in air from the fridge. the fridge isn't very sterile so you don't want that. Good luck.
