Wooooo mushieees!!! (Hunting Report w/ PICS)
    #4826478 -

Well, i went to the field a few days ago, and, lo-and-behold, a nice harvest waiting for me!

A pretty little cubie...

After i was finished in the field, i decided to go and check my weilii patch...

OH NO!!! The weilii guardian comes to protect the sacred fruit!

But i convince her that i intend only to respect the all mighty weilii, and she lets me continue along my way...

And the total haul...

After i come out of the beautiful weilii patch, i head back home. But on the way, i decide to make a side trip onto an outlet to the silver comet trail, and boy am i glad i did!

the first thing i see when i start along the path?
REISHI!!!

Next, a nice cluster of Honey Mushies...

Here's a cute little troup of Amanita.

On the way back, i spotted this shiney little tiger's eye polypore out of the corner of my eye.

CHANTERELLES!!!

In conclusion, I had a very shroomy day!

You may be right.
Amanita isn't the only genre with white gills and universal veils, but i didn't feel like looking them up.

I'm pretty sure they're not Coprinus.

I vote Coprinus too.

How can you be "pretty sure they're not coprinus?" YOU THOUGHT THEY WERE AMANITAS!

And why'd you take all the baby chantrelles?

just visually I would say perhaps Coprinus Domesticus or Coprinus Dilectus

nice weilii pics.

you could make a hat from chants and were it hunting so you don't get shot. hahaha

Nice stuff.

Those are definitely Coprinus, and definitely not C. micaceus. Coprinus is one of the genera with a universal veil.

Happy mushrooming!

Those are not baby chanterelles. The red variety "cinnabarinus" does not get very large. That bunch there is going to make 2 or 3 spoon fulls after cooked.MMmmmM should be very tasty though.

awesome stuff Lysergic_Milkman, great hunting.

one thing, i think you have a mixed collection of Cantharellales.
you have the red colored C. cinnabarinus
and also the very small yellow C. minor

in my book "Florida Mushrooms" it says this under the description for C. cinnabarinus:
"While other chantharelles are choice, edible species, there have been reports from Floridians that large servings of C. cinnabarinus cause digestive irritation.

and as for the small yellow C. minor, i have found these many times but never eaten them. so, eat at your own risk!

awesome hunting

You show me a Coprinus with a universal veil then i might agree with you.

Those aren't babies, theys full grown!
Red chanterelles are much smaller in size than the common chantys. And yes, those are all the same species, it comes in red, orange, and yellow. Perfect for a nice meal.

did'nt see this post before

I didn't know that Coprinus had universal veils. I guess you learn something new every day...

Well, then, i agree that they did have the consistency and overall appearence of Coprinus, but the spots threw me off.

Thanks!

If they have dark gills then they are coprinus.
