Rainy day.

Just stepped outside for the briefest of moments, likely my only sojourn to the outdoors today. The city is an animal when it is a wet thing. Concrete becomes a sloppy mane, cars are bones, and people are like little fleas just trying to hold on for the ride.

There is nothing to do today but smoke marijuana and watch moving pictures. Some days just call for that particular combination of (in)activities.

My windows have a pretty shitty view or I'd take some for you.  I should have taken my camera outside.  But now I won't. :smirk:


They finally locked the door to our roof - it was one of the best roofs I've been on in the city, too. :frown:

Yeah we got a lot of rain down here too. My city was like a ghost town a  few evenings ago...chilly, light drizzle, and the normally crowded streets had only a car or two.

I waked and baked this morning and has a huge breakfast, and am debating what to do today. I'm thinking I might get a hair cut, or just read some Kafka and do my normal spiritual activities.

Well the building's only five or six stories, six probably, but it's in a part of town where everything's low so you can really see all the way west, north, and south. To the east is one really tall building and beyond that the river.

I've got about a billion.  I've got 75 DVD's and my roommate has about 5...right now I'm looking at

The Untouchables (gangster shit sounds fun)
Chinatown (ooooh yeah)
Lost in Translation (naaaaaah, now that I think about it)
Koyanisqaatsi/Powaqaatsi/Naqoyqaatsi (whichever one is the first one...if I can find them..a friendly shroomerite hooked me up with some burned copies :biggrin:)

Oh shit man, I'd definitely say go for Koyanisqaatsi (that's the first one, actually you wrote them in the right order). Get stoned first too.

Those movies are truly masterpieces as far as films go. It's really difficult to describe their power to someone who hasn't seen them. And hey, if you don't like it you could always watch the Untouchables.

They're good for so many things, too! I can sit down and do nothing but watch them. I can put one on for a little background distraction while I'm reading. I can put one on and fall asleep to it (good music and no plot/dialogue means nothing to focus my attention and keep me awake).

Indeed man, Philip Glass is a remarkable composer, one of the greats of the past half century at least. They are very versitile films for uses and for meanings. Like a true work of art, everyone who watches them gets something a little different out of them, but everyone gets something.
