Here are some photos I took yesterday throughout my work day..
The leaves outside the window changing color..

Down in the subway.,

Smokestacks across the water, looking down N6th St.

The marquee

Blue staircase

The mezzanine bar..

Drum riser on the stage.

The balcony..

The other side of the marquee..

The 14th st. crosstown bus..

The Lower East Side

The monstrosity just erected at the corner of Houston and Ludlow

Steel beast

Rain on Delancey St.

Wobbly camera on rainy Delancey St.

Walk

City life, interesting. I especially like the picture of the light show in the street; looks like a tiny meteor shower.
I should take some pictures of my city and the surrounding wilderness. It'll make you envy us Pacific North Westerners!

I do envy those with easier access to wilderness...but not as much as you might think. I'm a city creature in my heart of hearts and I live 3 blocks away from the second largest park in the city so I'm not as starved as I could be.

Cool GG, I live in Brooklyn too. You should drop a line next time you're in the neighborhood!

It's funny how each person likes their own thing. Cities are so disgustingly artificial to me..so alien..so boring, so void of anything meaningful to do..then you got other people who thrive on city life...heh!

I see cities as vast expressions of human consciousness, coagulating in a way that is unique to humanities place in Nature. There really isn't anything outside of Nature, if you think about it...cities aren't so bad when you see everything as part of the Whole. I am a nature girl at heart who has lived in a city or close to one for several years, so I learned how to appreciate them.
Cool pics.

I don't understand how any place, or time, or space, could be "void of anything meaningful to do." I mean, don't we all find our own meanings in the things we do? Isn't that...life? To me there is nothing essentially "meaningful" about a city, or about a forest. But rather, there is meaning in my interaction with that place, how I move through it and live with it and how I treat it, even if it's indifferent to me.

That one pic of N. 6th...they need to clean up that trash all over the street man
Otherwise, nice pics
That building on Ludlow and Houston is a monstrosity that should be destroyed.

It's unfortunate you feel that way. There is nothing unnatural about human civilization. A skyscraper is no more unnatural than a beehive.
As for being boring... what does that mean? Interacting with people is fascinating... and there's such an abundance of them in cities. You know what they say: bored people are boring people.
Great photos, OMR... I also have a crush on NYC. I should go out and take pictures of my city on my day off. There are a million images out there waiting for me.

I've traveled all around the world, seen many cities throughout the world. Indeed, dozens of countries, I have been blessed to do as much traveling as I have done.
But the last time I flew into NYC, my cab driver was driving me to Brooklyn on an expressway that was jammed with traffic. There I saw a view of the big city. A monstrosity. A vast view of all of the large buildings from a perfect vantage point. I fell in love with what I saw. I couldn't believe how big it was. How wonderful it looked.
It is my favorite city in the United States. Heck, last time I was there I even saw Yoko Ono walk out of the Dakota near central park. So much energy, I fell in love with the place.
My older brother pretty much loves it there now. I doubt he will ever move. He said it took some getting used to, because it is a lot busier than the city we grew up in (Chicago).
Maybe it was just like Disney Land syndrome for me to visit there again, because after visiting I wanted to quite literally move there I love it so much..
In the 80's my dad would take me and brother to NYC on business trips. Man, the place was friggin scary back then. It was pretty bad. But I was there again earlier this year and was just amazed at how cleaned up everything was. Because NYC used to be real bad news as far as crime went back in the day. But it was insanely cleaned up compared to how I remember it as a kid.
NYC is the epicenter of the entire Earth. I the place.

Like most things, I appreciate and can live in both a city or the middle of the woods. I live in columbus now and its a nice city. It is nicer to live in columbus as opposed to cleveland, but I am still cleveland at heart.
I see myself living in the city for a good part of my youth but when I get older I will want to live somewhere very secluded and tucked away from society.
