another hippie tek question

I understand that the hippie tek is supposed to recieve light throughout the entire process, and that I just keep the cake in the jar, but once the lil' devils actually start to grow, won't they get cramped? Do I just harvest them once they're an inch tall?, or do I let them bend and turn for a while and then harvest? *scratches his head* Would they be strong enough if they're really short?

let em bend and turn a little...wait till the veil breaks away then pick em and put em back in the jar...the shrooms are most potent as soon as the veil breaks...after this point they slowly lose potency

it is still up in the air wether or not to harvest before or after the veil breaks. my friend usally takes them right as it shows signs of breaking

Why would ANYBODY choose to use the Neglect Tek.While it's true I have seen some supposedly authentic pics of shrooms in a jar.In mine AND my friends experience,the results SUCKED.It takes FOREVER for the cakes to pin in-vitro(zero gas exchange)and when you FINALLY get a shroom to grow,you are supposed to pull the cake out and pick it and put the cake back.Unfortunately,because it took the cake so long to pin and fruit,you almost always end up battling the green mold.I have seen this time and time again.This guy Hippie who supposedly "invented"this awful tek,has been nothing short of a dick when it comes to having a conversation or debating the issue.I say Hippie and his suck-ass "Neglect Tek" should stay at Mycotopia,and stay the hell out of the Shromery.

no kidding!! i wont be as harsh as you were.. but i recently had 3 cakes.. 2 i birthed normally in a terrarium, 1 i tried invitro on a windowsill using hippies tek. (upsidedown and stuff) well.. it was 6 days ago that my 2 terrarium cakes started pinning, and the neglected 1 seems not to have grown anything new at all even today. seems like sucky sucky. i mean my 2 jars have a couple 1 inchers on em.. while the neglect cake has nothin new!

Hey Catnazi,

Hippie just wrote the tek. No one is forcing you to use it. If you don't like it, then stiff shit for you.

Some people like the neglect tek because they are short on time, or travel extensively due to work commitments or they can't hide and maintain a growing chamber, or they can't affort humidifier, bubblers, etc.

You know, it's very easy to be a critic and critisise other people's teks. If you know so much, why don't you write a better tek?

And this is a public board. You have no right to say who can use it and who can't.

and you've got the nerve to tell me to stay out of shroomery ?
boy, i've been here alot longer than you.
and you're jt plain wrong about invitro, it doesn't take longer to pin or fruit.
hundreds of people world-wide are growing this way,
and no one cares what you think.

I think I'll trust Hippie on this one, he did make it into the 2001 PF Tek afterall, so some people must have seen proof it worked. besides, I'm a starving college student, and donating plasma will only get you so much cash...

i think every tek sucks. i shoot the spores up my wrist. thats the best tek. i call it the mail line spore dick in the ass tek. HA HA, well youve read it and are going to move on, but think, if we cant like everything, why dont we just hate everthing?

I'll admit, I was origionally one of those skeptics, but since then I have seen it work... it does work, leave them in light the whole time, I was impressed with the 'gulf coast' in-vitro, that was the only strain i've seen it work on 'in real life', only did it once, but it worked well.  for the records, gulf coast works in-vitro.  Never dunked though... too messy.

So uh, fuck all the naysayer's!.......  right hippie

I think there are quite a few different gulf-coast strains though

and for the record, gulf coast does kick ass invitro, one of the best strains for it i've seen yet.
