a friend just recently bought a small ceramic type heater... he intends to use this in a 6x3 closet for colonization purposes... should this work out ok? and should the temperature be about 80-84 degrees in there?

should work fine, just make sure you don't get it too hot. You should colonize around 80 - 84 degrees with cubensis, then drop it to 74 once you put them in your chamber... they will colonize at lower temperatures most of the time, but it could effect pinning and may result in having to cold shock your cakes.
