Old Radio Sitcoms? "Old Time Radio"
    #4772679 - 10/08/05 11:36 AM (18 years, 4 months ago)

A while back, one Sunday night, I was listening to public radio on my way back to town. There was something on about politics, but then came on a re-broadcast of some radio show called "Life of Riley"... As it turns out, it was quite entertaining to hear these old shows from the 40's, so I've tuned in a couple of times since then.

Ever listened to "Old Time Radio" shows?

Any recommendations for other shows?

I can only assume the copyright has expired on these sorts of materials, is there some place to download these for free? I found one pay service.

Harry Nile is my all time favorite. He was a huge local hit here in Seattle back in the day and they even still do new radio plays occasionally I think because the guy who wrote the stories and the who does Harry's voice both are alive and well and live up here.

Harry Nile is just an awesome radio play following this private detective in his life in Seattle and LA. But it's just such a captivating and interesting radio play that it's not corny and stupid like a lot of other radio plays.

I'm not sure about pay services since I just listen to them on the radio but you download them off of Kazaa. I downloaded a ton of old Lux Radio Theater shows where they'd do radio plays of movie from their time. My favorite was listening to the Maltese Falcon actually featuring Humphrey Bogart.

Also, I'm sure you heard it but check out the War of the Worlds broadcast
