Re: Adminstrative Rules not applied [Re: Rose]

Warning by moderator/administrator via Private Message including notice of temporary ban upon next infraction. Immediate bans may be issued in severe circumstances.

That was severe circumstance was it? Severe is threatening someone's life or encouraging suicide or illegal activity or defamation of character. Mentioning a book title to prevent experiment bias is NOT severe.

I have asked many mods and admins now WITH STILL NO ANSWER, why there was no pre or post ban PM outlining crime and punishment. Seems this simple protocol is just too much too handle.

Let's all not forget that the Holy Trinity of Maia, Shroomism and Trendal have all previously told me directly that it is OK for others to flame me "because I deserve it." This amazing bias was evidenced yet again by the acceptability of a half dozen nasty flames by Vertigo directed at myself (and others) the week before. These were not even remotely questionable as to content and rule violation.

Note just in from geokills: though he was quite dubious at first, he has validated my statements regarding lack of standard banning protocol as it pertains to PMed pre and post ban notifications outlining specific charge and length of ban.

I don't lie.

however, it does reveal the fact that a word like "trolling" is basically an excuse for any moderator to ban anyone at any time for any reason they feel like.

This is true, but not as frightening as you may think. You have to trust this: we look at this shit CAREFULLY in The Mod forum.

Mods won't let other Mods get ban happy, because it makes us ALL look bad.

We keep each other in line, and ask to see the same facts as you.

Only, we get to hear more gritty details.

So, we have subjective rules, subjective Mods and a subjective TOS, but we do the right thing most of the time... and when we DO fuck up, we hear about it.

Mods are usually voted in by their peers, and they are just regular Shroomerites like you. We have many of the same discussions and disagreements (on a smaller scale) in our forum.

We aren't allowed to disagree much in public, but we certainly do in private. It is easy to think we are all a bunch of badge-happy buffoons, but that is simply not the case. Only some of us are.

I sent you an answer to your question seven minutes before you made the above post. It involved the fact that I was operating under outdated knowledge. Older versions of the BB software sent out an automatic PM to all banned users outlining who made the ban, the reason inputted, and the duration (the same one all the mods and admins receive for any bans). With this misinformation, I thought it plain that you could simply PM the moderator that had made your ban to request further information as to the duration of the forum-specific portion of the action. As I just verified in the last hour, indeed it seems that the current version of our software is not sending out these notifications, so you could not know who to contact. On account of this realization I included the name of the moderator that made the ban in my last PM to you.

Dude, I am not going to fight the S&P Mod's fight for them... just telling you why they COULD do what they did... since you asked... and they weren't going to tell you.

It was a judgement call, and they got to make it, not you or I.

Geo has come around, like he usually does, and set things right.

Welcome back.
