Has anyone read Siddhartha?

I love this book.. we have to read it for buddhism class, but I really like it.
The main character thinks all the exact same thoughts as me.. all the same thoughts trouble him. It's very weird reading it and seeing him face the same thoughts as me countless times over and over.. about death, eternity, growing old, life, sorrow etc.
It's cool cause in the end he works it out, and it actually helped me  :sun: I am not buddhist, and i dont meditate or anything, but the way he describes living in the now as a river is very real to me. It's like I can understand everything he explains, and if i try it myself it actually helps me feel more comfortable about all these unsettling thoughts.

Indeed man, it's a remarkably good and well-written book, with much to learn from it.

I read it for my senior English class last year. It's one of my favorite books.

very cool book, how to get enlightened by listening to a river   somewhat confusing because prince siddhartha gotama was the buddha before he got enlightened, yet hesse's siddhartha gets to meet gotama the buddha in the book.  anyway, there are many buddhas and i guess they're all one, so it doesn't really matter, perhaps he just met himself.

i'm now trudging my way through hesse's the glass bead game.  it's very arcane and hard to read, but what the hell, it won him a nobel prize, might as well stick with it.
