I am not buddhist, and i dont meditate or anything, but the way he describes living in the now as a river is very real to me. It's like I can understand everything he explains, and if i try it myself it actually helps me feel more comfortable about all these unsettling thoughts.


somewhat confusing because prince siddhartha gotama was the buddha before he got enlightened, yet hesse's siddhartha gets to meet gotama the buddha in the book. anyway, there are many buddhas and i guess they're all one, so it doesn't really matter, perhaps he just met himself.
