Plexiglas Vs. Glass

Does Plexiglas have any advantage over regular glass, as I hear it recommended a lot. Also it would seem a good idea to line something around the rim of my terrarium to seal the Plexiglas/glass against humidity loss. Is there anything that is recommended? I thought about using bubble wrap.

Plexiglass can be cut to size. Use silicone for a sealant.

Would silicon around the terrarium rim be sufficient or would a squirt around the plexiglas be advisable also?

Plexi glass is lighter. You just have a piece of plexi glass for the lid? Was there a original lid?

Yes but it was opaque. I couldn't find any plastic boxes with clear lids that were big enough.

Well I was going to tell you to just cut the middle of the oringal lid out then replace it with the plexi glass

Looks like you're using the same box as me, only mine is a darker blue
Wouldn't it be easier just place a piece of plexiglas over the top slightly bigger that the rim size?

Yeah but the lid helps to keep the humidity in and if you seal the lid on top how are you going to get in to mist and fan 3-4 a day. The lid I cut using a razor blade then glued it on there then put duct tape for more support

plexiglass sucks cuz its impossible to work with and when it does work it never turns out like i thought it should look. glass sucks cuz its impossible to work with and its hard to keep a constant sufficient temp. maybe for just a window, but as containers they are weak.

You aren't SEALING the lid. You just put some silicone around the rim of the terrarium and let it dry so that when you lay the plexiglass down it will be air tight to hold in humidity between fannings/mistings. Not neccessary unless there are gaps between the plexiglass and rim. Saran wrap works good too.
