yes another oyster post by waixingren

welp...i know its not the air exchange because ive got them in a 68L PMP with a 2.8L/minute pump which means almost 2.5 full cycles of fresh air every hour...so is it the humidity? i havent gotten the humidity to go above 90%. and sometimes it drops to around 80%. whats the optimal humidity for oysters? why are my little fruits so funny lookin.

check them out theyre going nuts..

weird huh... oh yeah also, i know they are deformed or whatever, but do you think i could chop up those stalky fruits and throw them in a salad? ive never had oysters and have no idea how to prepare them. hahaha. ok so help me out guys..

Edit: i thought i should add that these things sat in a perlite tub with 100% humidity and next to zero air exchange for about a month and showed no recogniseable fruit formation, thats why i know the air exchange is helping. i just need to adjust the humidity i guess.

It's probably the temp. Is it too hot there?

Do they get any light? Oysters need light to develop properly.

I don't know what strain you grow, but it is still too hot.

try to low the humidity, and give it more air exchange (do you use perhaps tubes that are too long?tubes should be shorter than possible)
i've also tryed to grow pleurotus in italy during july but the weather was too hot and the primordias stops their growth...for this i don't suppose that should be the hot..but i should mistake :smile:

let us know news

Can anyone comment on the nutritional value of cultivated edibles verse wild ones?
Don't the wild ones have more special enzymes or chemicals?

I usually just toss my oysters in a open, yet cool room, with a humidity tent covering them, misting once a day (or even every other day sometimes). They have done well in my experience, down in the basement where temps range from like 50-70 degrees.

Mine usually look like this during the pinning stages.. this particular patch was left unattended for a long time though :frown:.

I do similar...only I don't use a humidity tent or anything....I throw them in an open air room that is at room temp at first signs of pins and have always had some nice fruits.
