I wouldn't mind having "Street Spirit (Fade Out)" by Radiohead  played at my funeral...but I'm worried that if anyone actually listened to the wording it could send them into an even deeper spiral of depression :smirk:

To avoid that, I think I'll have them play "Freebird", by Lynard Skynard.

I also want the following poem to be read:

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there, I do not sleep
I am a thousand winds that blow
I am the diamond glints on snow
I am the sun on ripened grain
I am the gentle autumn rain
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled light
I am the soft star that shines at night
Do not stand at my grave and cry
I am not there; I did not die.

:rotfl:

That would be somewhat awkward....it is like 14 minutes long I think.

Its my last wish dammit you will SIT there and stop fidgetting!

Well, I guess if people didnt want to sit there, they could just put some headphones on you and let just your dead body listen to it during the funeral.

I've never really thought about what song. My mom has told me that she wants Frank Zappa - Black Napkins to play at her funeral, so I'll be making sure that that happens whenever the time comes.

As for me, I think Pink Floyd - Echoes would be great, but that is 23 minutes long. Seeing as to how I'd be in a better place than this earth when I died, Wish You Were Here would be kinda symbolic.

Neato thread. I'm not sure what I'd want yet but my buddy told me a couple months ago that he wants

'Angel' by Hendrix and
'In my Life' by The Beatles

I'd also want "New Slang" by The Shins or "Lady Stardust" by David Bowie.

Or "Un Di Felice, Eterea" performed by David Byrne.

Amazing Grace played by a bunch of bagpipers and a guy with a huge drum. Cliche as fuck, but that'd be cool

I wouldn't mind having Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata" played at my funeral, either. Good tune!

it would be mandatory at my funeral to do a shot of scotch and grab a pint of guinness before you could be seated

This is really hard trying to sum up your life in a handful of songs.

Irish wake style - It's sad, but everyone ends up getting loaded and laughing and talking about the times they had with the deceased and the shit they pulled and funny stories, etc. that's the kind of wake/funeral I'd want, none of this screaming with grief and sorrow

I just went through 1400 songs and couldn't find a suitable set. The only thing I'm sure of is that after the tear your soul out sad song I'd like to have the polyphonic spree after them.
