Cloning

I am a newbee , you try to clone a mushroom on cardboard and as soon as the cardboard is all white what do you do?

you use the cardboard to spawn some new substrate - maybe some pasteurised woodchips below and on top, for example. it's a good technique for outdoor grows.

well, it depends on the species in what conditions and food it needs to fruit, but probably, yes. you should get advice from wherever you're sourcing the mycelium. what species are we talking about?

Like i said i'm a newbee at this stuff. I was thinking something i could get at a grocery store. What would you recomend as an easy grower?



p.s I dont have a pressure cooker so can just boil any glass jars that my medium would be in? How would i go about that?

well, if you really wanna fly by the seat of your pants and take this thread as your only research, then i'd say go find some fresh oysters, and get you some straw.

boil the cardboard in a little water for an hour in shallow jars
when cool, add tiny pieces that you've extracted with sterile tools from the untouched middle of torn oyster fruits. replace the lids.
if it looks bad, throw it out and start over.
if and when the cardboard colonises, add sterile water and blend in a blender you've cleaned with boiling water.
add this slurry to some cooled, drained, pasteurised straw. mix it up well with gloved hands, and stuff it in a plastic bag. stab the bag with a clean knife lots of times.
place the bag somewhere dark for ten days or so, until hopefully it too goes white.
then hang the bag up outside where you can watch it, somewhere shady and breezy.
badabing, badabong. oysters

Do you meen like put the cardboard in gerber babyfood jars and put them in the microwave? until the boil for 1 hour?
