Black specs in honey solution

Ok, Lets's say you had some honey solution that had lots of mycelium with little black specs in the center of the clumps.

Are these specs just clumps of spores that were killed when they passed through the heated needle, or are they contamination?

These are germinating spores. Nothing to worry about everything seems to be going swell.

Mine came from the holes I drilled in the lid for inculating the honey water. At first I thought it was a contam but turned out to be rust from the lid.

although my tazmanian strain seems bad for honey water cause the mycelium clumps are so strong you cant break the up by shaking

Another possibility:

sometimes after dude sterilizes his honey water; then, even before he innoc's it, he notices tiny black specs. he knows that everything was clean, and has come to the conclusion(right or not) that these are rust particles from the hole in the lid.

either way, probably, nothing to worry about...
