strain isolation effect on yield
    #459820 -

If you use grain transfer methods using an isolated culture to inoculate a substrate like compost, how much will the yield differ if you used pf cakes instead?

You're comparing apples and oranges. If i had a choice i'd go w/ the compost. hope that helps in some way

if your pf cakes are of the same isolate as your colonized grain, it should be the same, given all other variables remain constant.

If your cakes are multispore, then it depends more upon the quality/characteristics of your isolate(determining factor).

Well, let's say that you had a healthy rhizomorphic isolate to do grain transfers with. How many more mushrooms would you get compared to multispore cakes

It's not possible to give exact numbers for a variety of reasons, but I can say that there will be a noticeable difference. I will GUESSTIMATE from MY experience a 25% difference in mass per flush.

Now remember once your substrate is spent it is gone. The situation i am describing is going to get all of your flushes completed quicker, that is it! All in all, you will get about the same amount of product from your substrate either way, the one will just help you reach the potential more quickly.

understand?
