I need some equipment to shoot short films. I need them to be high quality, not some home-camcorder looking bullshit. Now, I understand that a lot of that has to do with lighting, etc, etc. You can save me that lecture. That being said, I need to know about some cheap but quality cameras, etc. I plan on using ''final cut pro'' to edit, if you have any suggestions please offer them. Thanks. I'm one of the best singingest and best lookingest motherfuckers of all time. I'm Rick James, bitch.
You're going to want to go with a 3 chip CCD camera if you want high quality. I recommend the Canon XL(1 or 2) or the Panasonic DVX100. Currently I'm using the Canon XL1, but if i buy another anytime soon it will be the DVX100. Get yourself a good minidv/DV deck(VTR) as well. Other then that, it's all about production quality, time spent on camera movements, lighting, composition, flawless audio, etc. Learn your codecs to always get the best quality out of your video, unless you're going straight from tape right back to tape.
Also I don't know what cheap means to you, but if you're looking to get away from home-camcorder looking bullshit it will cost you.
