College Attendance

How often do you attend your college courses?

I was at about 50% attendance for my freshman year, 75% sophomore, and I'm going for 90+% this quarter. My problem is not motivation (well that had something to do with it my first year)--I had a lot more intense health problems the past few years, so hopefully I will stay well and not have to stay out as much. I already have a week I'm going to have to be out for surgery and I'm going to try to make that my longest absence. I'm still pulling a 3.8 :cheers:

How often are you going, why are you not going, and has your attendance affected your grades?

probably about 96% of the time

i try not to miss them or im more likely to get behind and then i get crushed

While it's pretty easy to blow off attending classes, you're bound to miss something important, and some professors will make note of your non-attendance. If they see you around a lot, they just might be a bit more generous and kinder when it comes time for final marks.....

I have like a 98%. I skipped health a lot, and economics. Basically..Health was too early and I was just getting into pot, so that was out. And Econ..I just kept falling asleep so I stopped going. Got an A anyway.

do you count the days when you just show up for a lecture, drop off the digi cam then go study for another class in the library?

I passed Calc I mostly because I pestered the Prof a lot with questions, and she gave me a C just for being there and asking questions. If she had gone by my marks alone, I'd have flunked big time! A friend of mine who attended the same class got pretty much the same marks, although he rarely showed up. Needless to say, he had to take the course over.....

Depends on the course. If its one thats important and intersting, I try never to miss it. If its some laid back course where going in classes doesnt give me much, I gave myself time off now and then.

Me too. A lot of my grades this semester are based on in-class responses though, so I can't slide by easy at all this time. Damnit.

I went about 25% 1st year 85-90% last year,
aiming for 95-100% this year, more specifically tuesday cuz I go from 840-430 then again from 640-8, and missin 1 class amongst the many can easily turn into attending only 1 class amongst the many

I missed so many classes in college. I was happy with my 3.15 GPA, which I managed to get while barely studying, writing all my papers the night before they were due, and missing 50 percent or more of my larger classes.

Yeah, it depends on what you study and what you do in-class.

They just tell what's in the books in my classes. I don't need someone to read that out loud for me. It's a waste of time and they don't add anything. Most of my profs don't like the teaching, they like to do research, but they have to teach a few hours a week. That makes it boring.

I can download all the powerpoint sheets and miss almost nothing. It works for me and I have more time to do things with friends or post here :smile: It's so passive to sit in a class a listen to someone.
