nutrional substrate for agar
    #458943 - 11/15/01 02:19 AM (23 years, 4 months ago)

I posted a question about agar late yesterday asking if it had to have some kind of nutrional substance added to cause growth. As a follow up is it possible to mix in a little MLCIP (Magic's liquid culture inoculum powder -from www.mushroommagic.com) with the agar to create a nutritional substrate? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Why don't you stick with original formulas ? It's saffer.
Anyway, i've tried agar with honey only once but i think the sterilization process was incomplete, it grew mycellium but contams also.

Peace,

not that I know much about cultivation of spores on agar, but agar on its own is quite nutritious, both for people, spores, and all sorts of other things. =) agar yummy. made from seaweed.

Stick to the original recipies... MLCIP is just Malt extract with a bit of dextrose in it.
