Got Jars!/Lava rocks?
    #4583881 - 08/26/05 02:22 PM (12 years, 29 days ago)

Hey.

I finally got my jars from Mike at pfjars. He was really patient with me and actuall sent out 2 batches because the first one never came. Just wanted to give some props to him.
Now, I have my fruiting chamber, and i had a question about lava rocks. Does it matter what kind i get? Am i shooting for the same kind of red lava rocks that i see in peoples' gardens and such?
Also, When i am incubating, I was thinking of putting the jars in a shoe box and putting them on a window seal. I dont have room for a TIT. I keep my appartment at about 68-70 degrees, and it is about 100 degrees outside everyday. Would a window seal work, or are there any better ways of doing it?

Thanks -Rabbit-

if its 100 degrees outside i would not sit them in the window. That too hot you dont want to go above 86f when incubating. a better idea if you dont have room for TIT would be shoe box on top of the fridge, or on top of you water heater. thay both put off some nice heat.
hope that helps

They will colonise just fine without a incubator but they will take a bit longer, I dont use a incubator

I just put in a large rubber tub with a lid and leave in the closet
till there ready.Window sill in Texas is like a heater, and as far as
the rocks I went to the hydroponics shop and picked up a bag of
Hydrton grow rocks for this next grow, I,ve been using perlite,
but i,m trying for something a little neater.

I use lava rocks/hydroton - They in this case all serve the same purpose, when rooting a plant is where it matters what kind you get.
