Hi, i came onto shroomery today just to look at contam forum to see could i help anyone, havnt logged on in a while ... then went to look at shrooms AND THERES CONTAM!!! i jinxed it.
it looks like the contam i had on my casing, in the pics it looks white but its an orangy pinky colour and real chalky looking
Its starting about an inch up the cake and drops down onto the plastic that the cake sits on .... i have a bubbler set up on geolite
this is how it grew before about 6-7 weeks ago on the other side of the chamber on a casing which was removed immediatly ... and no signs of it till now
What the hell is it? and the infected cake was dunked 2-3 days ago and ive another cake in the same water now i didnt throw out the water and start again so do youse think the contam is in the water aswell?
No, the cake was fine , nothing wrong at all and produced lovely shrooms .... i then dunked it, and birthed it, but the same time i harvested another cake and put it into the same water.... then 1-2 days later the first cake got that contam.... so i wonder will the second cake get it aswell .... i definitly would never dunk a contam cake... and threw that cake out within 2 minutes of seeing it was infected (had to wash my hands haha) the second cake is looking fine and pinning like mad! but i really need to find out what this contam is cause its my second time getting it
i once left a cake in for 8 flushes and still had no contam when i was throwing it out, i just done it to see how many times a cake will keep going. So surely thats a sign that im doing something right if a completely spent cake doesnt even get green mold or anything on it.
