John Cage

Ive always enjoyed John Cage, after I started getting into Edgard Varese and Schoenberg and whatnot, his stuff started to seem a bit primitive to me. But after going back through my catalog of his work, and my grandfathers, I am really starting to get into him again. While a lot of his stuff doesnt seem as musically revolutionary, theres a very new and odq quality. He has this 2 part thing called In the name of the holocaust. It is sort of like the Moonlight Sonata in that its not out there to try and be musically Beethovens most ambitious, it is more about raw emotion. My grandfather played this once I believe when he had some friends over, some of which had been through the holocaust, I remember them telling stories and this song seems really familiar now that I relisten to it.
