The shitty remake

We should start a forum - "Robot and Tyler's movie reviews" that'd be tits. As long as Ythan pays me to mod it.

The original is WAY better I think.

Way way better.

Though the worst horror remake ever is the remake of Psycho, which was shot identically shot-for-shot to the original. What a waste of money time and talent.

Hell yea, the original is so fucked up.  Got to love the 70's horror movies.

The new one was alright, I guess.  The only part I liked was when the chick pulled the gun from her crotch and blew her brains out.  Other than that, the first one owns it.

Compared to other horror movies of today, the remake of 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre' isn't too bad.  You just have to hold it to a different standard.

You know what the problem is? DVD has effectively ruined the horror film.

The horror movies of today, aren't as good as I onced remembered.
I'm more used to the slasher films I grew up on...Nightmare on Elm St., Friday the 13th, Halloween, those types.
Now adays, they all seem just to be PG-13, suspense/thrillers. Where's the slaughter!?

That's exactly the problem. Producers edit their films into a PG-13 rating to have bigger box office impact. It then works in their favor when they release the DVD: they add that footage back in, and can then claim that it's an "uncut unrated director's edition" or some shit like that. More profits both times.

It's really impacted the quality of horror films; I grew up loving slasher movies too, and can't deal with the bullshit coming out these days.

However, I think I'm going to see that 'Exorcism of Emily Rose' movie....

Wow, never thought about it like that. Makes sense.

Oh yea, the movies they try to pass off as horror, makes me want to laugh. I remember someone telling me, "The Village" was one of the scariest movies they've seen.

I seriously fell asleep watching that piece of crap.

That's more or less my anti-current-horror manifesto.  :twitchy:

The Village sucked, bad.  In fact, pretty much everything I see in the theater these days sucks.  With a few exceptions.  I hope good movies come back some day.

There was one recent one, well not-too-recent, that I liked. Probably about 4 or 5 years ago, that I was: "The Cube"
Obviously and independant film, but it had that psychological effect along with the gore. Great movie.
