I'm definately not a liar. It is possible that I am just morally superior.

:smirk:

Or delusional. How can you be superior on something completely subjective?

It's ok Markos, I'll go voluntary into the madhouse if you think it's necessary. Though who does my hate and contempt exist for? After all, I am not the one who is so quick to deem his moral superiority; before all else I simply try to relate to people. You, on the other hand, can only judge them.

But of course, you must be superior because the Galilean peasant taught you this reality is an illusion. Did he also teach you how to call people poseurs and become, as Nietzsche would say, a last man?

God Damnit! I wish I would've remembered who the hell Dennis Rader was earlier when I first saw this thread so I could've joined in the beginning!

I have to hand it to you Ravus! Most people can't look beyond a persons dispicable acts to see the truth and beauty in their heart. As awful as serial murder is, it raises incredibly profound questions, emotions, and philosophical issues!

Why do they do the things they do? To connect! To create that profound moment when two conscious beings, born of the same universal consciousness, meet, struggle, and sacrifice. To look into the eyes of the being you are murdering, and see them looking back into you. It's unity!

They may, or may not realize it, but it is a profoundly spiritual thing. They are just searching for something that they don't understand... just like the rest of us.

I don't know how many times I have to say this in this forum, but SERIAL KILLERS DO HAVE EMOTIONS! They are human, and they DO feel things. Love, hate, fear, pride, power, etc. We don't understand their actions, or their complex emotions, so we'd rather dehumanize them, and call them monsters. That way we don't have to feel like we are similar in any way to them.

Unfortunately this thread is really long, and my internet connection sucks. So I son't know what was said after page 5, but to me it looks like a bunch of people just got uppity and righteous. So I'm not gonna worry about it...

Dennis Rader was convicted today. He received the max, I think it was 10 consecutive life terms, without possibility of parole.

While I agree with this. They don't have the right to interfere with anothers search for meaning. These guys are fear driven. They are human, they do have feelings of some kind. I don't believe they were born that way, and they belong behind bars hopefully getting some kind or treatment, (yeah, right) or dead unfortunately.

Hey, listen up. Anyone, and I mean ANYONE who extols a monsterous ("monster" was how the BTK referred to himself) sadistic serial killer is morally beneath someone who does not! It isn't about MY elevation and hubris, it is about someone else's moral retardation. IF one goes by Compassion as the yardstick of morality - a universal yardstick if one is able to see the universality of Compassion in Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism and Jainism just to name the obvious proponents - I am most assuredly morally superior to a murderer or one who praises a murderer. To affirm as much is far from pride, it is an affirmation of what is true. Bragging about one's physical, intellectual, financial or social status is vulger and disgusting since these things may be the 'givens' or the hand one is dealt in life. But a moral stance is a pure example of free will and anyone can make a choice on this issue.

If a cult of similarly disturbed people want to constellate around the BTK at this forum, it is just that - a cult of morally defective individuals who attempt that typically demonic ploy of relativizing good and evil while drawing on the philosophies of other moral defectives. I had such a debate with a guy just before he went away for 10 years for armed robbery, and before I realized that it was he who stole MY cash several months before. The philosophy of the demonic seems always to use the same sources and put the same kind of accusatory spin on it ('who are YOU to assume a moral high road?!') I don't know how other readers feel, but I wouldn't want a psychopath's sympathizer anywhere around me or my loved ones. Call me normal, go figure.

I tend to agree with you 100%. It is possible that someone could use their skills at trolling in such a way as to provoke an interesting discussion of a phenomenon or behavior. I have played Devil's advocate on this board many times to provoke a meaningful conversation. It is possible that this is somewhat where Ravus stands. If that is the case then he has done a good job. If Ravus is truly supporting Mr. Rader's position somewhat, then I will have to side with Markothegnostic. The conclusion he draws is a no-brainer.

Morals are subjective, and in my opinion useless. You take have your arrogance and moral superiority; I want none of it.

Quote:

The only yardstick is survival. These religions you listed are delusional and have caused millions of times more torture, more killings and damage than Dennis Rader could've hoped for in his wildest dreams. Christianity is more evil than any mass murderer to set foot on this planet.

Quote:
To affirm as much is far from pride, it is an affirmation of what is true

True to who? Obviously if you hold your individual morals as some sort of God-like yardstick, you're going to see everyone different as inferior. This is the entire principle of prejudice and hatred. But I wouldn't expect any better from a Christian.

Quote:

These attributes are many times more important than morals. They help our survival; morals may have helped humanity's survival in its darkest times, but in the modern age knowledge and intelligence are starting to replace these faith-based masks.

There is no free will.

Quote:

Indeed, the Inquisition is always right. Let the others go voluntarily into the madhouse, for we must deal with the heretics.

Simple Christian arrogance at its best. Perhaps Jesus deserved his crucifixion?

The man who takes the most free path is the man who doesn't follow these old, blood-drenched philosophies and morals. Every moral you stack on your back is another bucket of blood that puddles around your feet.

Evidently, you must be drowning in it. Yet religion realized long ago what you still have not; there are no absolute yardsticks, there are no objective morals, all that exists is survival. Survival can cut down any weak moral developed from mere social Darwinism, if that is what's required of it. If Christianity actually followed that delusional peasant, it wouldn't have lasted 100 years.

I agree that serial killers are fascinating in a mythical sense, but if you're excusing what Dennis Rader did, that is purely benighted and reprehensible.

Why would I excuse anything? I simply observe and question, sometimes adding a new spin on my thoughts; I feel no need to justify, criticize or support anything.

You justified BTKs acts with freedom.
You criticized Christians.
You supported BTK's acts with darwinistic survival.

Come again?
