Who else has a cat that CONSTANTLY meows
    #4494202 - 08/04/05 08:49 AM (18 years, 7 months ago)

I have this really poofy, cute gray kitty.  He is sooo sweet, a real ladies man.

But he meow's CONSTANTLY.  All the time.

Now this cat is neutored and perfectly healthy.  He's an active, playful, fun cat.

But he drives me NUTS with the constant meowing.  He only stops if I pay attention to him, little whore.  And since I can't take the incessant meowing, I give him the attention he wants.

We give my other cat the same amount of attention, but she hardly ever meows.  (strong, silent type)

Is there anything I can do to help him see that he doesn't have to constantly meow to get my attention??!

But I love him!

I'll probably just live with it.  I know he meows cause he only loves me back.

I've got 4 cats at my house. One is a tiny 4lb. White Persian who is neurotic to an extreme level. He is obsessed with my Dad and will meow if he is not near him.

One of our other cats only meows when she wants food/go outside/needs something.

And our other indoor cat is silent almost all the time.

Our neighbour used to have a cat that meowed constantly...key words in that sentence are "used to"

He was bottle-fed as a kitten...has been around people his entire life.

I read that cats in the wild almost never meow EXCEPT for as kittens, and that the reason why housecats meow is because to them, they're still "kittens," being taken care of by their mommy.

Makes sense to me.

Make sure he isn't in any pain.... I used to have a cat that did that and I took him to the vet. He had a bad virus =\

does he have plenty of different toys to play with, make a box tunnel
and put some treats in it for him to explore.

This kitty is perfectly healthy...has all his shots, eats well but is trim, very playful and loving, etc. He has been vocal since we got him, he just seems to get more demanding as he gets older.

The kitties have LOTS of toys littering the apartment, including a huge kitty tower. We put out catnip for them everytime we smoke pot, which is just close to every night. Whenever I walk past him I talk to him, pet him or play with him, so I think he's just gotten used to having attention whenever he demands it.

It sounds so simple!

I'll have to try and resist his cuteness.
