Perlite and air pump....
    #4494256 - 08/04/05 09:12 AM (18 years, 7 months ago)

okay this is what i wanna know.. i am gonna use a 10 - 20 gal rubbermaid for fruiting chamber.. since i dont have the money now to buy geolite or hydrotron and already have perlite.. im gonna use perlite in the chamber but my question is once the perlite is in and wet should my air pump hose be under the perlite or on top of the perlite?i was gonna use to air hoses one coming in on the left side and one from the right side for even airflow and was gonna leave the air hose lay on top of the perlite is that how to do it ?

no place airstone/airwand on the bottom of tub, pour in perlite (or whatever) to about 3inches high, pour in water so its 1inch below the top of the perlite level (in this case 2inch). Havin a slightly transparent rubbermaid will help with this. Maybe add some hyrdogen peroxide to help avoid the water going bad, dun need much.

Thats it

i use hydroton, looks like gravel, it works a treat, havent tried anythign else, if u worried bout the perlite stuffin up ya wand maybe put a lil pcv pipe cover over it, but if its blowin our air and not suckin in i dun think theres any need to worry...

I use one of these: http://www.petco.com/product_info.asp?sku=7926290026&dept_id=%2D2

No need for perlite, hydroton, geolite, or fanning. 100% automated humidity and air exchange.

i dont have any in my lid, i just stick a folded up tea towel under the lid in once corner which makes a bit of a gab for sufficent air flow, once ive got the cakes onto casings i know longer worry too much bout contams, as long as its in a fairly clean closet the casings will be fairly contam resistant. I add peroxide to my mist water but im not sure if this is really necessary. I also open the lid up and fan every couple hrs while im home even thou i have the big airpump going, cant have enough FAE
If your worried bout contams then u can stick a couple inch holes and fill them with polyfill or whatever that stuff is in ya pillow.

Air pump to tropicaire. Tropicaire to tub. The hoses going into the tub are hooked up to suction cup wands.
