Insomnia

Can anyone make any suggestions for getting a better night's sleep?

Chamomile tea, milk, and honey.

Do you have a job? If not you should try getting one. Preferably a job that takes a lot out of you, like a 12-hour shift work, labour intensive job. You should be able to sleep soundly with no problem after a long day of work.

It also helps to think about why you can't sleep well. Are you afraid of death during sleep? Is it paranoia? Etc....

I've heard melatonin and a glass of wine works very well, but I've never tried this myself. I also experience insomnia, I usually only get ~3 hours of sleep per night on the weeknights, b/c I will lie in bed for hours not sleeping.

Ambiens work well.

Pot may help you fall asleep, but it certainly will not give you a better night's sleep. At least it shouldn't and it doesn't for me, but it may work for some. The thing is pot usually has a depressant effect, and depressants inhibit REM sleep. This is when you get your rest. So if you sleep for hours with no REM cycles, you may wake up feeling tired, and most likely with that fuzzy head space that is no good at all.

I don't remember where, but I read part of an article online saying they recently found out melatonin had some sort of bad side effect. *shrug*
