Working 2 weeks of 12 hour graveyards..
    #5072139 - 12/16/05 05:57 PM (16 years, 7 months ago)

I just got back from 2 weeks of 12 hour graveyards (i work on the oil rigs), and i cant begin to explain how frustrating it is to get my sleeping habits back to normal.. i sleep about 5 hours during the night, and then im tiring during the day and ill want to just sleep..

i feel like im getting sick .. and my gf gets mad when she gets home and see's me sleeping at 3pm.. and 5pm.,. and all sorts of hours..

i feel like if i could just get all my sleeping done in my first few days back then i would feel "normal" again. i feel so sick right now and i hate it i feel like im getting depressed.

check out Melatonin on erowid. It's the hormone your brain uses to regulate you sleep and it is produced by your pineal gland (it's a tryptamine too). You just take it when you want your bedtime to be and it RESETS your internal clock!

I use this stuff all the time in combination with valerian root and it really helps! And you can get it at most places that sell vitamins and supplements.

hey man, I know how it is. For the better part of 2 years, I've been working a "swing shift".

2 weeks of graveyards, switch to 2 weeks of day, back to 2 weeks of graveyards...back and forth every two weeks.

I've done the oil rig work. Tough work man, but damn good coin. I find it a lot easier to adjust my body on something like that. Because you probably get a week off?

What you do is, your last day on the job, say you are off at 7am in the morning....you are so tired. SOO damn tired. You've just done a grueling 12 hours on the rigs and you NEED sleep. But force yourself to stay up all day(without use of drugs). Make it to at least 8-9pm and just crash. If I do this, I'll wake up around 9am the next day...now fresh on dayshift hours.

It sure is hell isn't good for the body working shift work like this, but it has to be done sometimes. Feeling tired all the time is extremely shitty.
