How would i go about and get a spore print from a normal non active grocery mushroom, the problem i see is... well the cap isnt open enough to see gills (aleast ones around here...) i would like to grow them! now for those drug obsessed indivudals out there asking "why would he want to grow those"
BECAUSE THEY ARE HELLA GOOD AND I MAKE AMAZING sauteed mushroom onion topping for my steaks

you could do it with portabellos, buttons are generaly immature mushies and you'd really need to do a tissue culture with one of those.

yes, or as Prisoner#1 said, make a clone from a tissue sample. Though from my experience vendors dont usually sell edible spores, but mycelial culture syringes instead.
cheap and tricky - clone your own not so cheap but easy - buy a culture

Yeah, I've cloned store bought shrooms before, it worked pretty well.
You've just gotta get yourself some petri dishes or jars, and some agar...read up on making those and do it. Then go down to the store that has the freshest nicest mushrooms that you know of, grab the healthiest, least damaged, freshest looking one you can find and take it straight home. Then get yourself a sterile blade, cut the shroom in half, and cut yourself a little chunk out of the inside of the stem where it was not exposed to the outside world before you cut it. Under sterile conditions place that onto one or several agar plates and away you go.

i rccomend tearing it in half then cutting a section because theblade can draw in contams. And when working with agar every step saves you a headache

i do believe you could dip the mushroom tissue into hydrogen peroxide to kill any spores that may settle on the surface. when cloning from mycelium to a liquid culture, i did this with no problems.

Is there any difference in difficulty of cloning of different kinds of edibles... This place where i work sells different kinds of mushrooms (among other things), pearl oysters, yellow oyster, shiitake, portablella, chestnut and the regular white ones... So i can just take a couple with me if i want... Which one should i take??
