Alex Grey's Chapel of Sacred Mirrors
    #4468879 - 07/29/05 12:18 PM (18 years, 8 months ago)

How many of you have been to Alex Grey's CoSM in New York City? I was there once with a friend and his sister, and it was very ethereal. It was around the time that Christo's "The Gates" was up in Central Park. I didn't dig the Gates too much, though. I thought it was pretentious and bland. If I want curtains, I'll go to Sears. Anyway...

I think I'm definitely going to have to go back a few more times though. Once isn't enough. Club Spirit NYC is right beneath it too, and I believe Shulman/Bluetech and Hallucinogen just recently performed there.

Man, if planned right, NYC can be one hell of a psychedelic day.

What did you guys think of CoSM?

Haven't been, but I really want to. That's awesome that you went, I'm glad you enjoyed it.

A long time ago a Shroomery member was going to go CoSM and eat mushrooms. Never returned with a report, though.

I plan to turn one of the rooms in my new place into a Alex Gray art gallery.

Nothing like the work that he does.

I haven't gotten over to CoSM yet myself. It would be crazy to go there while I do my solo trip walking around Manhattan, but I'll be damned if I'm braving Times Square on acid. Fuck that.

Ehh, too much of a huge bright money machine bustling with wild-eyed tourists. I'd rather be on a rooftop somewhere watching the skyline or walking along the water.

ha! Did you notice that in my trip report? The day spent in central park? I was at Belvedere castle on acid and mda.

I didn't notice.

The park in general is just awesome.

Riverside too. One time we walked on the river from 75th to 125th on a high dose of acid. Shit was crazy.

Haha, I know what you mean. Whenever I'm shuffling through those busy streets, I often think to myself "This is one of those places I'd rather not trip in." There's too much noise, in so many ways. For me, it's quite the trip sober anyway.
