Generally, eating them on an empty stomach will allow you to feel the come-up effects in fifteen minutes, weird by 30, and tripping by 45. Eating them with food or after a small meal might take longer, but unless you gorge on dairy products, they'll still work just as well.

Tea helps with stomach discomfort, but they tend to wreak havoc on your system anyway. I like to eat 'em in a PB&J sammich, it masks the taste and gives your stomach something else to digest.

so far my favorite way is to chop them up into little tiny pieces, then shove a handfull in your mouth and wash them down with your favorite drink. no need for chewing so you don't have to taste them!

I personally don't think shrooms taste THAT bad at all - like sunflower seeds almost, but not a great texture. I usually just chew them up and keep them in my mouth for a few minutes before swallowing. It makes the trip come on way faster. :smile:

When I eat them dry, stick a few pieces along with some chocolate in my mouth and chew everything up. This is easy because there is no need to dry or anything. Also no need for any kind of liquid...

Also have tried smashing it until it's almost a powder and then mixed with some honey, but I though this was too sweet.
Also have mixed the powder with beverage and flushed everything down.


For fresh mushies I like to make an inffusion. Heat up water, don't let it boil, turn off the heat, put them inside and let it rest for 15 minutes. Use a blender to make it like a soup. Then you can ingest it that way, or you can strain it and go for the liquid only (I like it the other way, straining makes me feel like I am wasting good stuff).

chocolates are the best way to mask taste, but before i had that option i made pringle sandwiches with them. Couldn't taste the mushies and couldnt feel the texture. But now, now its all about the ghiardelli choco mushies mmmmmmm.

i'm not a very experienced user, but in my trials i think i've discovered the best and most pleasant way to eat mushrooms. Fruit roll-ups. Just roll the dose up and eat from the end. The candied covering melts to the mushrooms as you eat them and completely hides the taste and unpleasantness normally associated with eating fungus. It actually tastes very good and neither my friends nor i have ever had a stomach issue after eating them. I hope everyone gives it a try and enjoys the resulting trip. By the way, i joined this forum just to distribute this knowledge, but i think i'll stick around to acquire some of my own.

Make tea. Add a liitle ginger and your stomach should be fine and you wont taste those nasty motherfuckers.

Simple Mushroom Tea
--------------------
Chop or crush mushrooms.
Use 1 cup of water per person and/or 1 cup of water per 5 grams.
Heat water to boiling, pour hot water over mushrooms.
Wait 5-10 minutes, strain water into drinking cup.
Pour a second amount of water over strained mushrooms.
Drink first infusion.
Strain second infusion into drinking cup and drink.
Add ginger if you have stomach problems.

I would say that mushroom tea is by far the least 'gross' way to go with mushrooms. (though to each their own for sure). I've played with various tea-admixtures and have recently been using:

Yogi Tea brand Licorice Tea

Much MUCH better than it sounds if you havent tried it. Extremely interesting / magical flavor. Highly recommended. Other brands of 'licorice spice' are ok.
Small amount of Fresh Ginger - (as a stomach helper).
A little squeeze of a fresh orange
Not too much. Adds a little acidity and a nice round flavor.
Sometimes Damiana
A very mildly stimulating herb that I find interesting by itself. Set your own admixture herbs according to your tastes and preferences.
I boil the water, pour it over the tea and let it sit until not mouth-burny, and then strain. You don't have to swallow the mushroom parts if they upset your stomach, a majority of the active ingredients of the mushrooms will be extracted into the water. The resulting tea has a very -magical- or -weird- flavor but is not at all like chewing mushrooms into paste in your mouth.

I personally find the idea of 'hiding' the mushrooms inside other edibles to be less than appealing because I often don't want much (or anything) in my stomach at the time.

I thought I read somewhere on here that chocolate will bring you down from a trip- is there any loss of potency or difference in dosage with the chocolates???

I vote for blender with OJ or ice cream- turns a cool blue color!!!

I dont believe choco lessens the effects of the mushies.  The only thing it could do would be fill your stomache up with food effecting digestion.  But since the shrooms are powdered they hit just as fast.... 

I for one never make it a habit to buy chocos from someone i dont know, lots of times people just make a batch of chocolate, dump a bunch of powder in, and pour the choco out.  So you never really know how much you're getting in a dose.  The 3 times ive eaten chocos purchased from someone else i was bunked, made my own 4 gm choco last sat and went to the moon.  :smile:  Choco all the way for me from now on lol :smile:

Im not the most informed on preparing mushrooms, but wouldnt the heat involved in baking really lower the potency a ton?

I came up with a new method last time. I take a big bite of a granola bar, get it all good and gooey in there and then take some powdered mushroom bits and toss em back. Mix it all around and swallow with a big gulp of water. It masked the taste very well and from now on this will be my preferred method. :smile:

Chocolate covers the flavor, and it doesn't reduce potency. Chocolate was traditionally eaten w/ mushrooms by the shroomy ancient Mexicans.

BUT chocolate does not make mushrooms easier to stomach.

The fiber in Mushrooms is hard to digest and it can hurt the stomach. This causes the discomfort... well THAT and gass.

Eating shrooms in Pill form... or making shroom tea is the BEST thing you can do to reduce discomfort.

Or, you could shove 'em up your ass... but I suspect that would be uncomfortable in its own way.

Same here, i chew mine for like 15 minutes until they are liquid. I can feel it start to kick in about 15 minutes after I swallow them :smile:

If you leave out the chocolate syrup you get a real cool blue colored shake. :cool:

OK... boiled water can't get hotter than 200 degrees, an OVEN can get MUCH hotter.

Making tea and putting shrooms in boiled water as it cools, is one thing.

Baking the extract is another.

Don't bake your tea into muffins... not if you want to trip.

i have digestive problems (i use the bathroom within 20 minutes of eating).

so when i eat our friends (in a PB sandwitch), i end up having to dump about 20 min afterwards...and ill start tripping on the toilet...it's a terrible experience, i get clostraphobic every time.

I take my scissor and cut the mushroom into little pieces... after that I have 50 little pieces and I eat them 6 or 7 at a times with some juices... just like a Tylenol or any pills.

In my opinion the active chemicals only make up about 1% of the mushroom bodies. It's the other 99% that makes you sick. Therefor I always make tea (straining out the mushies of course) or use an extraction method then put in a gel cap. Dramamine can also help when taken before the shrooms

i think that just straight up eating them is good if u have something u can wash them down with. I drink orange juice or coke, something with a strong taste. chocolates are good, but like dude said above a lot of times people either rip u off and don't put enough in or they don't really know how much they are putting in. make ur own chocolates and that would be awesome.

I think eating the shrooms naturally is part of the whole spiritual aspect of tripping. But tea is the best way otherwise. Licorice tea is AMAZING. I recently acquired a bunch of random plants from a friend to take care of (she is moving). It turns out that half the plants were psychoactive in some way (mostly Daturas and Brugmansias, and a few kannas), but i found a small licorice plant in with the bunch. It gives tea its own "natural" sweetness. very pleasant.

in my opinion, dried is easier on the stomach. and since longtime storage needs drying.... i suggest that this is the "best" way if ingestion.

dried shrooms are also easy to powder, making the trip come on quicker. also making powder from a large amount of shrooms evens out fluctuations in potency and makes for safer, more accurate dosing.

mix the powder with something (like honey) to make it into a dough and you can easy roll it into exact measurement (1, 1.5, 2, 4 grams) balls for super easy dosing. add something with taste (spices, dried nuts or fruits) and you got some wicked space candy.

first thing you need is a coffee grinder. these things work great and only cost about 10 or 15 dollars. grind the shrooms into a fine powder. after that you can use your imagination to lace all kinds of different foods and beverages. here is an easy fudge
recipe:
1 jar peanut butter
zap it in the microwave for about 40 seconds
dump into a bowl and add desired amount of powdered shrooms
1 jar chocalate icing
zap in the microwave for about 20 seconds then add to bowl.
use mixer to blend ingredients.
spread the fudge evenly in a pan and put in the refridgerator for a couple of hours.
this a quick cheap and easy way to eat mushroooms. the fudge actually taste pretty good!

I have tried many different ways of eating mushrooms in hopes of avoiding gut rot; sometimes I don't get stomach problems, other times they are horrible. What I have found to be the most consistent in avoiding stomach upset is chewing 1 or 2 chewable Pepto-Bismol (I assume a similar product or the liquid would work just as well) just before I eat the mushrooms. As far as I know, when I have remembered to chew the pepto, I have never had gut rot. As far as methods of eating, I personally do not like eating them with chocolate because they are just too sweet, and that in itself bothers my stomach. My preference is either drinking mushroom tea made with a herbal fruit tea to mask the taste of the mushrooms, or just eating them as quickly as possible and washing them down with a juice or iced tea. I can't guarantee that these ways will work for everyone, but they are my personal preferences.

The only way I injest shrooms is by drying them out and then throwing them into a coffee grinder and making capsules out of them. This way I don't have to taste them and I only get a very slight nausia. Also nice if you happen to get pulled over or something and you can just keep them in a herb bottle and it won't draw suspicion.

I didn't read all the other post, but i think the best way it to take dry or fresh mushrooms, throw it in a blender with lemon juice and grind till theres no pulp. Then drink. You can't even tast it.

I've noticed that Lime or Lemon settles my stomach when my stomach is bothering me and I'm tripping. Tea's with ginger is the best, but I also noticed powdering it and putting it in gel capsules seems to be less harsh.

I've heard that papaya extract (from your local healthstore or grocery store) helps your stomach break down the protein in shrooms and thus saves you the sickness when eating a good amount. I've tried it and works for me and the people i have tried it with; just not sure if its placebo or not : X

I like to eat thema bout several hours after I ate food. Preferably 4+ hours plus. I then take my dosage, usually around 3.5-4grams and blend it in a small amount of orange juice. Maybe 1/3 of a small orange juice. Put that in a blender and get it to the point that the shrooms are so fine that it becomes like a drink. I chug it, its down in a second, chase it some OJ and i dont even taste the shrooms.

Plus it allows for the best absorption since it doesnt have to get digested that hard! Get almost no stomach discomfort. Its great and my favorite form of consumption.

I like to consume them as nature intended. I tend to focus more on my trip than anything else. Then again I have a strong stomach and I dont know of any ill effects that they may have had.

I trip a lot and that not good for you bu watever. The best way with no taste is to get poptarts. You get like a desert flavor like smores or hot fudge sunda. You get a pack and place the shrroms on one and put the other half on top kinda like a poptart-shroom sandwich

Just ground up 3.5 grams into fine powder with a coffee grinder. Microwaved 1 part peanut butter, 1 part chocolate, some ginger, some brown sugar, and a fatty marshmallow. Yeah, it's rich, but whatever. Everything mixed real well and put into the freezer to cool down (shaped into candy bar first).

Tastes like peanut butter fudge with a very very very tiny hint of mushroom. You gotta try some chocolates -it takes no time at all.

I think that eating dried shrooms in a meal is best. I make Chili con carne (or non carne if you're a veggie). I fyou have a delicate stomach, just don't add chili to recipe. I think it's important not to have full stomach so I'd eat a relatively small amount and don't eat it with rice.
Method completely masks taste and texture. This reduces nausea by avoiding any unpleasant forcing down of the mushies before hand etc.

mango tea:

4 cups water
4 mango flavor green tea bags
1 cup sugar
3 tbsp. mango drink powder
desired amount of shrooms chopped fine

bring water to boil. reduce heat to simmer. add shrooms, and tea bags. let steep for 15 min. in a pitcher combine sugar, and mango powder. use a strainer, and separate the tea, from the shroom bits. pour tea into the pitcher and mix well. serve hot, or on ice. makes 3 to 4 servings. enjoy!

Personally I enjoy eating shrooms by chewing them as much as I can in my mouth to break it down and absorb and then I swallow them with water after like 7 minutes

By far the best way is with tea. Bring your water to a SLOW boil and add your shrooms. Boil for five minutes then bring back to a simmer for 10 minutes. Strain the shrooms leaving only the hot water then dip an earl grey tea bag into the water. This method will hit you in about 10 minutes. IT IS CRAZY. Don't do this alone the first time.

If you REALLY want to trip take the leftover shrooms and grind them up. Add them to something like Orange Juice to mask the flavor. Drink this while you are tripping for a boost. Be ready for a ride!
