noob to the allman brothers band. need some advice

So I think it's time to expand some of my musical tastes. I've been big into the Dead for a couple of years now, and lately I've been hearing a lot of the Allman Brothers. I've only heard their really big songs, and don't have any of them on my computer besides Midnight Rider.
Anywho, I need some advice on some songs to download, and a few cd recomendations. Are there any good sites out there that have free live music for the Allman Brothers, like there are a few really big ones for the Dead? It would be great if I could find a few of those.
I'm seeing them live on August 20th and want to have a much better taste for their music before I see them live.
Thanks

Start with Eat A Peach.
Then get "Legendary Hits" and "Millennium Collection." And for GODS SAKE, see them in concert. They are awesome, mate. Enjoy.

I'd have to agree. Anything live by them is heaven-sent.

I like the album Brothers and Sisters. It was one of their successful albums and has a bunch of hits on it.

Eat a Peach is pure studio brilliance and Live at the Fillmore is pure live brilliance. Peach will break your heart and Fillmore will make you dance it back together.

i went to a music store today to pick up one or the other, but they only had 2 cds, and i'd never heard of either, or heard any of the songs on them. picked up a creedence and a skynyrd cd though. i'll take a ride to another store this weekend and try to get eat a peach or live at fillmore though.
thanks for the advice.

well, i just got back from newbury comics. picked up eat a peach, live at fillmore east(only the one disc one, 2 disc was too expensive), and mycology an anthology. i was only going to get the first two, but mycology was very tempting as it had shrooms all over it, plus it was cheap so i got that one too.
listening to eat a peach right now, excellent so far.

Caught Allman Brothers a couple weeks ago live. Incredible show. Trucks, blasphemous as this may be, is definitely better than Duane was. This actually makes me feel terrible...Duane Allman was probably my favorite guitar player.

Well, man, reviewers have been saying the tour has been pretty shaky, so I wasn't expecting anything amazing, but they put on an incredible show in Ohio earlier this month...I was blown away. They played a lot of their older shit, and I was surprized and delighted to see them playing In Memory of Elizabeth Reed since it's Dicky Betts' song, but they really jammed the fuck out of it. Anyway, let us know how they play on the 20th.
