i like tripping daisy. i've never got around to getting anything besides elastic firecracker though. all the stuff i've heard just doesn't seem as good. my favorite song is motivation. fuckin' amazing song. listen to it trippin and you'll become a better person. i really like pirahna and high and trip along too. do any of there other albums have songs like that?

incubus is pretty good, but i wouldn't really say underrated.

i saw glassjaw about a month ago when they opened for deftones, and i didn't really like them very much. they were really into it though.

i've heard of widespread.....saw them this summer, great show. their disk with the dirty dozen brass band is phenomenal ("another joyous occasion").

you also might be familiar with medeski, martin and wood....and galactic? amazing funyky/jazzy/jam bands. incredible talent.

oh, and an older band that gets much respect from me is Rush. the drummer is simply badass. the whole band for that matter........

The Meat Puppets.. specifically, their "Too High To Die" album. Its fun playful arizona acid rock that has carried me up for over 4 years.

"fade.... fade into whaa.... made into ours.. and pulled into lines.... limes...."

Maybe their stuff doesn't make sense but it is fun. These are the same guys who wrote "Lake of Fire" later to be covered on Nirvana's acoustic album.

I want to second the vote for Blind Melon. We lost a lot when the singer OD'd.

I have to agree, Massive Attack, the Meat Puppets, The Reverend Horten Heat, and Switchblade Symphony all kick ass, not too mention OpIv, but punk dies in the mainstream so they're just where they should be. i used to really like Rancid but there last few albums have not appealed to me. Oh yeah, Incubus sucks ass and should be thrown in a Turkish prison with all the other shitty metal/hip hop hybrids that have been polluting the airwaves. And I would like to add PJ Harvey, Nick Cave, Sonic Youth, Cradle of Filth, Tricky, Orb, Leonard Cohen, Bob Log III and Front Line Assembly to the underrated bands list. I saw tripping daisy in concert and have Elastic Firecracker, and I think they're good but not great.;

In a time of such a dark, musical vacuum, there are a few rays of light and the brightest of them all is a band called Ween. No other band can make you sing along, laugh, tap your foot, get up and dance, press repeat, turn it up, and bang your head like Ween does. The music that Ween makes is similar to these psychedelics that I we're so interested in, they're a bit difficult to swallow at first, and in the beginning it might seem odd or unsettling. But soon, songs like "Don't get 2 Close (2 My Fantasy)", "Dr. Rock", "The Golden Eel", and "Mourning Glory" will make you forget about all the Britney Spears and Back Street Boys of the world. If you think you might like a cross between Beck, The Doors, Guns and Roses, and Pink Floyd - give Ween a try.

Kriz...you are my kinda people! Bungle is one the most inovative bands I've ever heard. They're like Zappa to a new generation. :uploads/bficon: Also, if you like heavy, differnet sounding stuff, check out Isis, or Neurosis. Maybe even Crash Worship.

Beatrice, there is a band from Ohio by the name of Ekoostik Hookah who I would put in the genre of bands like phish, the dead, ween, etc. they are a really good band and you can download live stuff from they're website at http://www.ekoostik.com/

Chino XL is an under-rated rapper. Slim Shady is a rip off of him. Also, old-school rap is way under-rated, even though it is probably the best anti-depressant music around. Three 6 Mafia is good. And not too sold out.

Coal Chamber, System Of A Down, Downset, Biohazard, and Pantera are all excellent heavy rock bands that don't get much exposure.

Fear Factory is a great band if you listen to their first few albums. (Fear Is A Mind Killer and Demanufacture). Soulfly is an excellent band, as well. Drown is good, and so is Six Feet Under. Check out Six Feet Under's album Warpath, and the song Nonexistence.

Those are all I can think of right now, I'm too wrecked from a nice mixture to think of any more.
