shell flower is safer to use then hydrated lime.
less chance of error.

what exactly do you mean by caco3 buffer? does this only have to do with pH or something else? sorry, i don't know much about additives like this. thanks

Yes. Calcium corbonate is caco3. Oyster shells are a great ph adjuster. It's a shame I can't get them anymore. I used to get shucked oyster shells by the ton for driveways. Good luck on that now. Now the shells are used to for the new growth for more oysters in government controlled beds in the hmmmmmm, water. I can't even find a bag of crushed shells anymore, none the less for a driveway. Thanks for the link. I hate to pay that shipping, but it's well worth it IMO. They'll last for a while no dought.  :thumbup:

powdered limestone is like $3.50/50lbs in feed stores around here
