Q's about Oyster Shell

I just picked up a bottle of Oyster Shell Calcium. They're 500mg pills. I plan on crushing them up to add to a 50/50+ casing. It contains Oyster Shell Maltodextrin, Acacia Gum, Croscamellose Sodium, Tricalcium Phosphate, and Magnesium Stearate. There were many different kinds, Vitamin D added, Magnesium added, etc. I picked up the one that only said Oyster Shell. Anyway, will any of those other chemicals added mess anything up in a casing, and how many pills should I use? All of em'?

the oyster shell they talk about in the 50/50+ casing is the kind sold at FEED stores, it's for hens, hope that helps, you want the crushed oyster shell not the powdered shells.

Very intresting! I have always used the shell from the pet shop, but now that I have moved, These rednecks don't have pets, LOL, anyway I also bought the same thing, I put the whole bottle in the blender and put on high for about 10 min. now its a fine powder. Just a bit of calicum to the babys. I do not know what will happen, but its always worth a try!!! I think it will work out, though. Let me know how yours goes, I'll do the same!!
