Orange spot
    #4420271 - 07/18/05 08:18 PM (11 years, 4 months ago)

Has anyone ever had an orange spot associated with a wet spot in a jar? I don't think it's lipstick, it doesn't look like anything I've seen so far. I searched the contam archive for about an hour. Sorry no pic, my camera's in my boat.

Thanks,

Is their mycelium in the jar too or just an orange growth? But isolate them immediately to make sure it doesn't spread to any other jars, that's always first!

I came back from the weekend and the jar is ready to birth. There are little mushrooms growing out the side of the cake. Right next to the orange spot.

contamed jars will still go invitro, if you don't wanna give up on it completely, plus it would be interesting to see the full progression, put it aside In a DIFFERENT growing chamber and just let it do it's thing. Go into it thinking you wont be able to harvest anything off of it even if it is seemly fine...you know...mycological research purposes

What if I put it into my outside bed and let Ma Nature and her UV rays work there little magic?

well if it's that or trash it, sure take a shot. why not right? I wouldn't bet the house on it haha, but see what happens, but when you do, try and first cut out the contam (ya thats almost pointless but thiers no point in putting pure contam in the ground right!), so ya between that and trashing it, why not!
Take care
