Sour Smell from incubating casing...

My previous casings have been 60/40 with coir but i found they allowed the myc to rip through it a bit too quickly so i made up a 45/45/10 with some peat and did the microwave trick then made up a small casin with 2 1/2 pints. The casing has been incubating for 24hrs and i decided to have a quick peak (i just cant help myself soemtimes) and noticed a sourish smell when i lifted off the afoil. Has anyone else experienced this with peat based casings durin incubation?, Or have i got a contam in there that i cant see :frown:

That's Bacilllum Bacterial infection.. It's a contam, but you can still fruit if you isolate those away from everything else..

Yer have isolated it, also noted the sour smell isnt as strong now but thats prolly cos the lid was taken off a couple hrs ago and it hasnt had the chance to reaccumulate, if thats a word.
Will keep a watch on it and if it does go bad and see signs of contam then i might just turn it into an outdoor tek as i havent done one of them yet either.


When u say i can still fruit do u mean it will still fruit fine, or it may fruit dependin on if the myc can overcome the contam?
