quick courtesy question

i guess im kinda clueless about this sort of thing.

my profesor offered to give me a ride to school since we commute from the same area and i use the bus+train. so im emailing him about that, but should i offer to front for gas or something like that? on the one hand, i'm kind of poor but on the other, is it expected i pay like a carpool fee or something?

buy his lunch one day or offer a few bucks a week for gas


you are getting a nice ride to and fro
not having to deal with lots of crowds
you get a nice seat
you get to school and home alot quicker
you get picked up at your house and dropped off there

yeah i know. first of all- it's a one way thing, two times a week, and im not sure if i'm getting picked up at my house, i might have to commute somewhere else and wait there.

it costs me 875 to get from my house to school. hmm. yeah i guess i will offer, thats almost 18 dollars a week id be saving...
