My Stupid Laptop
    #4383550 - 07/08/05 11:02 AM (18 years, 9 months ago)

I have a stupid Dell laptop and I don't want it anymore. I don't use it, I don't need it, it's taking up space.

How do I sell a laptop? Where would be the most constructive place to sell it? Ebay? Fuckin buy and sell classifieds? There's nothing wrong with it at all, it's practically new, it comes with a nice shoulder bag. I might even throw in a photo printer to make it a sweeter deal.

Where do I start? Help me!

I'd suggest that you sell it on craigslist and then buy a mac!

I don't need another computer. If I needed another computer, I wouldn't be trying to get rid of the laptop, ya dig?

What is Craigslist? Is that a website?

Does anyone want a laptop? It's about 2 years old, windows XP, P4, 512mb ram, DVD drive, burner... if you want to know anything else about it, I'll find out for you, but that's about the extent of my knowledge. I'm going to ask $2000 because that's what I owe on it. I don't want to pay for it anymore. I have a PC that I use, I don't need two computers.

I'll throw in a sweet photo printer, too.

Buy my shit.

http://www.craigslist.org is a website run by Craig where people can offer services and goods for trade in about 30-40 different cities in the US and Canada. And Europe too I think.

That's what it looks like. It's got one of those finger feely mouse deals, but there's two USB ports in the back if you want to plug in a real mouse.

The moment you buy a computer, it's worth a few hundred less than you bought it for.

I paid $4000 for it two years ago. I'd like to try and get $2000 for it now. Is that really too much?

Honestly, yeah. Really I'd be surprised if you could sell it for 1000. That's probably the most it would go for, especially a Dell laptop.

Laptops are a lot harder to take apart and upgrade into better machines, just because of how they're built originally. If it was a desktop you might get more just cause there'd be room for upgrading. Computers that come out in December are usually way better than the ones that came out in June...and by the time the next June rolls around, last June's are worth diddly...and on and on and on.

Couldn't you get a laptop with those specs used for less than $2000? I think you have to settle for the going price.

I also have an uber sweet Dell Dimension PC with a 17" flat screen monitor and killer sound system.  Because of my PC, I have no use for the laptop.  It just sits there, costing me $110 a month for the REST OF MY LIFE.

The Dimension was a gift.  If I had anticipated it at all, I would never have got involved in the financial contract that came with the stupid laptop.  I even called Dell and they were like 'Too bad for you.  Pay us more money'

:mad2:

Dell has quickly become one of my least favorite companies...back when the Chernobyl virus happened they had some amazing customer support, I was so happy with them, and it's been downhill ever since.

I was playing Warcraft 2 against my friend Eric, clock struck midnight,a nd I lost everything. All my writing, all my music. Ugh, it sucked. That night they stayed on the phone with me for like 5 hours and I really appreciated it.

And during the times I was on hold, I saw 2001: A Space Odyssey for the first time!
