Australiana cultivation

I thought id let people know that by basically collecting mycelium of Psilocybe Australiana and alder chips and adding unsterilised verm to this mixture in the PF sorta system (125ml water to 250ml verm) I have been able to fully colonise this medium within a month. I chose Australiana, as it seemed to be the most aggressive of the Subaeruginosa variants i have found, although slightly lower in potency... And sometimes having a distinct 'pepper' smell... When examining fruits from this species and other Ps.Subaeruginosa variants, it confuses me as to how some mycologists have labeled this and other natives as being only variants, when they are so unlike each other...Australiana has a light coloured cap, thicker stem and stains blue mostly on the margins of its caps, while subaeruginosa has a brown cap, thin stems and is similar in potency to native Psilocybe Cyanescens. Ps.Eucalytpus is a seperate strain again... Anyway, after a 48 hour coldshock, and high levels of humidity, i am hoping to fruit these babies...

"When examining fruits from this species and other Ps.Subaeruginosa variants, it confuses me as to how some mycologists have labeled this and other natives as being only variants, when they are so unlike each other..." That was also my feeling, namely confusion, when I read in "Psilocybean Mushrooms of the World" that Psi. semperviva is only a variation of Psi. hoogsageni. Especially not only the morphology is completelly different, but also the spores and the mycellium are different. Cailleux & Heim described them as two different species, and I'm wondering if Stamets is right about that variation thing... Elektrolurch
