Subaeruginosa cultivation success!!
    #619959 - 04/26/02 10:41 PM (21 years, 11 months ago)

After using virgin spawn from a local patch last year to innoculate a mix of eucalypta, pine and cardboard. The mix took about two monthes to colonise. Once colonisation was at about 70% the mix started to pin madely invitro. However it only pinned on the pine mulch and refused to pin on the cardboard or eucalpyta - until it finally began pinning on the Eucalypta. I moved the container into my terrarium, but the temps were too high so the container was moved outside and covered until cold weather and rain arrived. Here is the result. A little dissapointing, but not sooo bad.
Finally some mushrooms to display!
Here are the very small fruits that consistute my first flush of Ps.Subaeruginosa: the tallest about an inch in height.

The container has now been spread out evenly under some fresh pine mulch, beech and cardboard. Hopefully it will pick up if not by winter, then next season.

awesome...
i used rush waynes "cereal box" (using small pieces of cardboard soaked in a weak nutrient broth, sterilized, and in turn, using that as a sponge to germinate spores onto)

i used that tek on the wild subaeruginosa and pan cyan prints you sent me.
after i innoculated the cardboard, i placed them individually in small ziplock bags...(the kind used for prints)
the tek worked 100%
the subs did exceptionally well, germinating very fast, faster than the cyans...and the myceliumof the subs is reaching desperately to find somemore food!
i plan on transferring the carboard to peroxidated MDA plates tonight...
as far as them not pinning on the eucalypta, did the mycelium colonize it at evenly with the pine and carboard?
what do you think about spawning just on pasterized pine shavings?
do you think they will pin...and grow without aborting?
(why did you stress about it pinning on the eucalypta?...is it necessary to fruit successfully?)
what were the temps for: spawnrun & pinning?
what about humidity?
so im getting that indoor cultivation wasnt successful?
i will be trying to grow them indoors as well...
...where theres light, theres a way...

goodluck, congrats and thanx for sharing your experience!

impresionante...

intentar? crecerlos dentro tambi?n...

Forty - i think he's just using an online translater for some reason - no idea why - still chasing up good wood chips! bloody hard - all i can find is redgum and i dont think oysters will grow on that!
As for the subs = well I wasnt impressed with the size - when you consider that they can grow pretty damn big in the wild as the next pic will show:took too long to download = check the mushroom hunting forum.
Il pm my address cheers bio!

ill post them now:
You can colonise them on most hardwoods - they seem to like a mix of eucalypta and pine mulch in the wild, so I assume that is best - the problem with mine were that they had the right cold temps, but would only pin on the pine bark and not on the other ingrediants, and i think because of this, they were very small and shitty:
Here are the pics mate - hows the pan going? Doing well on agar - are you going to use dung cakes or spawn manure for that?? Still cant find any other woods than red gum - im in australia i suppose
