Tripping for the 1st time..

Hello everyone.. Ive been reading these pages for the past couple weeks and have decided I want to shroom. Im getting together with 4 other friends 2 of them have shroomed/tripped already and us 3 havent.. Im planning on taking 4.5 grams and I wanna know if it is too much? please help

4.5 gm dry Ps cubensis should knock you on your ass (or sail you to the moon, whatever...)

4.5? pfff... conservative newb.. at least do 5.. but if you do, try to either put one thought in your mind "no hurt, this happy time" and not go anywhere, or get some friends to trip with. Try to get experienced ones... and have one of them babysit

When me and my friend shroom we each do an eigth. Its enough to give us visuals, fun times, crazy patterns, but not to the point where we freak and run screaming. I actually can handle myself to a degree on it (or do i just think I can?). I would say do no more than an eight the first time, you may find it overwhelming

I've been reading a lot of Terrance McKenna lately, and he recommends only doing "heroic" doses when you trip----it doesn't count unless going into it you think to yourself "Uh oh I did too much!" If you want to grow from the experience you have to push the limits.

Good point..is a low dose trip just half of the experience? I will have to read some Terrence McKenna.

not necessarily, I believe that doing too much is just plain doing too much. If you aren't enjoying yourself then why trip? Some people find that shrooms should ONLY be used for answering problems, and though I respect their ways of tripping, I find that I can think about the bad things going on in my life sober, so I don't have to deal with an onslaught of frightening visions due to thinking about my bad grades (etc) on a trip. Maybe this is just me tho

Personally I feel low doses are fun for times when you just want to have a mild boost of creativity and don't care for a full psychedelic experience. I think 2 g is the PERFECT dose, all-around, not too much but not too little

mighty_bop, a good one to start with is True Hallucinations, it reads more like a story than his other books, which tend to be more scientific.

Heroic dose the first time== Bad idea

Try 2 grams dried first time to test tolerence. The old lady was buggin on 1.75 the first time. She didn't like it. I did. I'm a veteran of all substances, so I was able to sit her during the bad time.

Secondly,
I had a hell of a time myself on 2.75 g. Almost came close to losing it too. Fortunately I'm very grounded although I was alone during the whole experience. Diving into 5 g's the first time is ignorant, not heroic. One may find Xanadu or the ER, not knowing what to expect.
Take it from an old fart at 40, who has been around the block once or twice.

5 grams is a fair amount, but oh well i always liked taking more than i should, because, for me atleast, the more i've taken the more fun i'd had during the trip. One of my favorite things to do is the ole MX missle the X seems to keep you in a positive state of mind when the mush gets rockin.
