 so i think i'm gonna quit my job after 1 day

i know it's irresponsible, and i know i'm mad lazy, but this job is just not worth it really.
the job really isn't too hard. i'm supposed to stand outside during this 11-day music fest and tell people where to go if they're lost
first off, i don't have a car so i have to bike 10 miles a day on my shitty dyno mountain bike that won't even shift into the lowest 6 gears so it takes me forever
secondly, i stand outside in the sun all day, which i really don't like, especially since i got sunburned yesterday
thirdly, everyone i work with is basically a middle-aged lower-class individual. not that i have anything against these people, but i have nothing in common with anyone or anyone to talk with either
the person who i work with is a fat, ugly, lazy dyke, who actually looks and sounds like a man. she makes traffic slow down so much because she spends way too much fucking time talking to these people in line
all in all, i'd make about $400 total during the fest, and i planned on staying down there at least half the days, which i would easily spend $10-15 on food, and 20-25 on beer, therefore my net profit at the end of the fest would be only $200 which is not worth it at all to me. there's no way my body could handle all the biking, standing, dancing, sun, drinking, etc ... i could barely even make it home last night. i worked from 1030-530, rocked my ass off at particle, and spent the rest of the night wandering and eventually leaving my friends who all dosed up - really glad i didn't by the way
so i'm supposed to leave in 5 minutes but i think i'm going to go back to bed since i barely slept last night

well, 6.5 hours a day, @ $8.25 an hour, so after taxes it's about 40 bucks a day ...
i didn't really even want to work there, but it gives my folks the idea i'm at least doing something productive
i can make 10x that sitting on my ass, if the day goes right, which lately it has not, but it's better than this shit

So you're basically getting paid to stand around a music fest, do nothing, drink beer and generally party. And the job is "too hard"?
Go figure out how to stand in line for welfare, it sounds as though thats your best career path.

hahahah, that was funny, but completely wrong. i'm 1-year away from graduating college where my degree, even entry-level begins about 40K a year ... how's that for welfare, man?
and it's not really the type of "music fest" you'd envision full of hippies and generally cool people. it's full of rich-assholes, drunks, rednecks, harley riders, and 15 year olds.
i didn't drink beer or party while working, that was afterwards.
but my point really isn't about "working", it's about "enjoying" the music which was my first priority, i just got in for free, but if i have to work every day, i can't physically keep up with all the things i want to do

Okay okay, apologies are in order.
But hey, my point was that it's only 11 days. Stick it out and I'm sure you could find something more job-related that'll help you when you finish school in the next year.

yes, i did see particle ... not one of their best shows, imo

Yeah no shit. Doesn't sound too bad to me. I had to work 10 hours a day after Bonnaroo picking up trash in the sweltering sun, plus I was sick as fuck.  Camp out, enjoy yourself, it doesn't sound like you're doing anything too laborous.

no, it's not a camping fest ...
it's summerfest, the largest music festival in the world actually
i already said my job is easy/boring/uninspiring, that's part of the reason why i can't stand it. you could replace me with a sign/map and there wouldn't be any differences

last year there were 940,000 people over the 11 days
tickets are $12 for an adult
they also have this "big gig card" you can purchase for $5, and get into the fest for free until 6pm every day (i think)
where they really rape you is on beer and food ...
