Buy Manure Online

Im having an unbelievably hard time finding manure. I live in St. Louis and there are nothing but farms an hour drive away, but none of them are obviously selling manure, and I dont feel comfortable just walking up and asking a stranger.
Does anyone know of any online sources for real manure? Sorry if this has been asked before, but Ive just spent an hour reading through posts and I can't find any.

Huge piles of Sh*t is a problem that horse ranchers & farmers are trying to get rid of. Don't be affraid to ask them for some. Offer to pay for it, if needed. After all, it is for your sick grandmothers rose garden, isn't it. :rolleyes: :grin:

I just did exactly that. When we started the conversation he was kind of humming and hawing, but before I left, the charm had a little (very little) cash had talked him into a pickup truck load. I have his card even for future manure needs. When he found out it was for my horse mushrooms, he got psyched and told me he had friends in Mycology. Don't be afriad...just walk right up, be a great guy, and work a deal.

as Agar mentioned, manuer can be a big problem for stables and cattle farmers,
many have to pay to have it dumped because of the environmental impact, too much
nitrogen leaching into the ground water, smell and a lot of other issues

I have several horses in one of my pastures, I allow a couple guys go gather all they want and send the to another stable to do the same for another fellow

Yup, just ask. Every person I have asked have been more then happy to get rid of it. Two have even called me with the names of some of their friends wanting to know if I wanted theirs. I rented a small storage locker I am filling up now. Needless to say I have shit coming out my ears,lol.

I was kinda nervous about asking some farmer for his poo too. (well his horses' poo) One day I said fuck it. I drove around this stretch of road I knew had horse farms for about an hour. I didn't want to knock on some ones door so I decided the first time I see someone out and about I'm gonna ask. Sure enough i drove past a farmer mowing some grass so I pulled over and waved him over. I said "would you mind if I gathered some dung for my tomato garden". He said "there is too much just scattered around, I'd be out there for hours". He then invited me on his tractor and told me he would take me to the stables for some. I was pretty surprised. And on we went. He then even shoveled it for me and then drove me back to my car. I think people will respect you for asking and not just taking. Ha, Ha Agar. I was cursing you under my breath last weekend,lol. And I really did have shit coming out my ears, nose, everywhere you could get it. I thought you told me it took no time to get some poo ready. Took me all weekend,lol. When is your sub. going to be ready. Need a selling point, just tell peeps to pasteurize 110 pounds one weekend and see how fast they call you,lol. I gave up on keeping clean. Just stripped down, got to work, then hopped in the shower.

I personally like TennStudd, they sell it h/poo with straw (50/50) pre-pasteurized, great product so far.

I am still waiting to see how well it assists to produce fruit, but I have heard nothing but good things and to add another plus to the situation they ship it to you in 3-4 days.

Well, Today I went to 8 nurseries. a couple in the city, and then I drove out to the county where there is a lot of new construction and HUGE landscaping companies. NONE of them had manure. ONE of them had the krapy kind in the bags. Not only that, but they all looked at me like I was crazy. I asked a kid at one of the nurseries, and I don't think he had ever even heard the word before!!! I even went to this one grow shop that is all organic/hydro stuff (caters to the herb growers) and even they didn't have any!! (at least they knew what it was)
WTF?!?!?!?!??!?!??? I thought this stuff was common!!! This town is pretty backwards, and maybe the people at the nurseries think only them queers and freaks are into organic gardening, so there's no reason for them to carry anything other than harsh chemical fertilizers

Your talking about store bought crap...you dont want that stuff anyway and thats not whats easy to find...you go to FIELDS and pick your own. So you dont get shit with a bunch of crap and salt mixed in and to composted.

I was hoping to find a nursery that had the good stuff shipped in from the country.. like a big landscaping company who had it brought in from the country and then composted it themselves or something. I guess that was just a pipe dream
