desiccant vs. Dehydrator

First time grower here. For those of you who dry with a food dehydrator, do you guys use it with the heat too or just the fan? I know - or rather I've read/heard - that heat breaks down the active ingredients. If this is true, at what temp and for how long would it take before this starts happening? I'm going to need a drying method in the next week or so and I'm debating which route I want to take - desiccant drying chamber or food dehydrator. I'm leaning towards the dehydrator just because it seems easier, less work, possibly cleaner/safer, and it's a one time expense, but I'm interested in your experiences.

You buy one dehydrator, and that's it. There's no noticeable loss in potency from dehydrating at 95F (adjustable dehydrators). Desiccant works but it requires 1) pre-drying with a fan 2) dual level drying chamber in most cases and 3) always having to buy more desiccant.

Dehydrator is set and forget, it doesn't get much easier than that. Highly recommended.

Dri-Z-air works good as far as desicants but is messy as it turns to liquid but is only 1$ per bag mushrooms were cracker dry in three days no pre faning no duel chamber mushrooms seemed to absorb mositure from the air.

Excaliber dehydrator worked fine on 85*F mushrooms took three days to dry and i still thought that they needed a bit more i like to dehydrate and then put in desiccant chamber then put in ziplock with desiccant (dirite or silca gel) pouches dirite works great but i dont know how to properly dehyrtate the dirite as it will ruinen your pan that you cook it on and aperred to have some sort of chemical reaction with alumium

they wouldnt even be able to fight with each other. One is bullshit and the other kicks ass.

Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.
