sniffer dogs, can they smell mushies

ok this might seem like a stupid question but does anyone know if sniffer dogs can smell mushies. I am more concerned with the dogs that are some times used on interstate boarders in australia to sniff fruit and vegitables. Would a dog trained to sniff vegitables and fruit be able to smell mushrooms?
if anyone has any knowledge or even theories on this let me know.

Only a guess but my feeling is those vegatable sniffing dogs would be sat beside your bag looking lovingly up at you in no time.
