Oct. 13 - sterilize 4 jars of 1:3 (BRG:vermiculite) substrate. The brown rice wasnt even organically grown! well it didnt say it on the package. it was no name brand!! i sterilized by leaving lids loose, putting Al foil on top and boiling in pot for 45 mins.
Oct. 14 - innoc jars with cambodian spore print by spraying an open, emptydresser drawer and room with lysol. waited 15 mins, washed hands with good soap, enterd room, opend sterile syringe, opend spore print, opened first jar and scraped in a little spores from the print with the tip of the syringe. sealed jars. repeated X 4.
Oct. 18. Nothing. no contams. Found a heating pad and put under all the jars with a layer of thick cardboard imbetween so they didnt get too hot. i set it on low temp.
Oct.19 - Nothing. no contams either. I notice a little fuzz on jar #1 and #3, but thought it was just fog from the humidity inside the jars.
Oct. 20 - fuzz on all jars, jar #1 and #3 top is completely coverd.
I will keep you updated. Today when i saw the layer of beautiful white mycelium, i was overjoyed. It was so beautiful. A perfect layer. It looked like little mounds of snow covering everything in a perfect, very reproductive world. It didnt look ryzomorphic or cobwebby, i was very proud.
peace, did anybody actually read this far?

Keep us updated on the Cambo's.
I'm growing some atm and they are taking an age to colonise (they are on the same substrate and the same timeline as the Eq's I'm growing too).
The Eq's are being birthed in two days, but the Cambo's have not even got 50% colonised yet (three weeks after inoc.).
Just wanna see if anyone else finds them to be slow colonisers.

You probably know this but if you had mixed up those spores with some water in that syringe instead of just scraping them in the jars they would colonize a lot faster and more evenly. Just to clarify, you do want rhizomorphic growth. Rhizomorphic growth is a sign that the mycelium is healthy and doing well. Be sure that the heating pad isn't keeping those jars too hot. It's really easy to fry jars with a heating pad. I've found that a fish tank heater inside a jar of water, in a cooler, keeps the temperature constant and gives me accurate control. Anyway, good luck.
