Joe P.'s Story
    #4308898 - 06/17/05 07:55 PM (18 years, 9 months ago)

"Hey man, I've been smoking pot since junior high and I haven't changed."
-Joe P.

He's right. He hasn't grown up. He hasn't graduated. He hasn't gotten a job. He still lives at home. He's 28.

Something like that.

But it's so true.

He doesn't. Marijuana ruined his life, and he knows he has only himself to blame.

So what is this man doing to rectify his situation? Is he at least making an effort to make something useful of his "life"? Is he/will he contribute anything to our society, or will he just be doomed to a life of the "stoner" stereotype?

He's smoking a joint to make himself feel good. He does contribute to the black market by buying marijuana with his parents' money, if that is something useful.

This is our reality. If you smoke marijuana, you will fail in life.

Er, if you abuse ANY vice you'll fail in life. Everything in moderation, so they say.

Not really. If you're greedy and good at theft, you'll get far in life. You'll get riches, power and women, all the while fucking over the people below you.

Some vices, like white-collar theft, help natural selection. Others, like marijuana and being peaceful, do not.

Speaking of which, did you know Christianity has four cardinal vices? And marijuana/ alcohol aren't on the list.

Lol, well I certainly wasn't making a religious reference. And I think we're on the same wavelength, only not vocalizing it. What I meant was, you can keep something like Greed and Stealing under control (by not going over the top and screwing yourself over), much like any substance use. You CAN smoke pot and get on in life, but if you abuse it to an extent it can do a lot more harm than good.

True. I've noticed the Shroomery seems to be extremely slow lately.  :nonono:

Hopefully the admins' plans to recruit new members at events will speed it up.

Woah? are you anti-peace? Being peaceful and being a zombie are two different things.

I know a guy who lived with his parents until they died due to his Joe P. lifestyle. He also smoked way too much pot. Moderation is key and I am not able to do such a thing with MJ so I had to quit. I have shrooms to thank for that for while on them, I was shown my path of failure and the path that I must choose.

...Weapons are meant for destruction,
and thus are avoided by the wise.
Only as a last resort
will a wise person use a deadly weapon.
If peace is her true objective
how can she rejoice in the victory of war?
Those who rejoice in victory
delight in the slaughter of humanity.
Those who resort to violence
will never bring peace to the world...

Ravus, I have to say you're taking this a bit too far. I mean come one, "if you smoke marijuana you will fail in life." That's pretty intense. I'm sure a lot of us shroomerites not only smoke marijuana, but also indulge in many other illicit substances, and many of us are responsible, productive members of society. What about the large proportion of ganja smokers living in Holland? Are they failures as well? Drink Punk Soda has the right idea here: All things in moderation. Clearly if Joe P. devotes his entire existence to smoking joints, he's not doing anything constructive with his life, but that's not to say that smoking a joint once in a while will definitely destroy your life.

(I may have misunderstood your posts. If you're being sarcastic, please disregard this message, but if you're not, try to appreciate the billion+ decent potsmokers in the world as positive additions to the world community.)

Smoke a J and hang out for a while,
DHarp

Okay nevermind. I just checked out freevibe.com. Woops, now I look like a dumbass. I'd just like to point out a short quote: "Most teens don't even know that marijuana use can hurt their grades and SAT scores." I've been smoking pot since seventh grade, and I graduated at the top of my class with above a 4.0 GPA and a 1500 on the SAT. Then again maybe I'm the exception to the rule, because this website has me convinced that marijuana is the devil!
