Are Vermiculite and Perlite Interchangable?

Vermiculite, Perlite, Geolite.... they're all types of puffed volcanic rock. But they dont do the same thing, or else they woudl be just sold as the same thing now wouldnt they?
Vermiculite is so porous that it can hold great amounts of water, making it a nice resevior for your cake. At the same time it "fluffs" out your cake making colonisaton qiucker and easier.
Perlite doesnt hold water, it just wicks it. The water just sinks to the bottom of the layer, and is slowly wicked into the air, raising humidity. Vermiculite can do this, but is less effective.
I dont know what geolite does, just know what its made out of.

Me neither. Based on how the Hydro Pad works, I asume that geolite works simularly to perlite... I belive that geolite costs more too.

Not sure. I belive that McMan claims thats the case with there use in his hydropad.
