Damaging your back is very serious. Often injuries will never truly recover and will pop up from time to time throughout your life.

Go to your Doctor!

I find laying on the floor on my back, knees up can help to stop muscles spasming. Also laying in bed on my front, bend right leg up, stretch forward right arm, turn head to right. Then reverse to left side.

But go to your doctor.....

Yeah, it could be many things.

I would recomend a good chiropracter. I go to one for my neck. They can fix many different problems.

there are poses in yoga specifically for your back but cant name them off the top of my head. see a doctor to see if its safe for you to join a yoga class. then let your yoga instructor know about your condition. he/she will specifically teach you poses to strech your back. if its lower back pain, if find that keeping your stomach in good condition helps like doing crunches or sit-ups.

Are you under emotional stress? There is solid evidence that anxiety or stress causes back pain. Especially pain that moves around. Check out the book by Dr. John Sarno. The Mind Body Prescription.

This will be especially helpfull after you have tried some physical remedys and they don't work. :mushroom2:

yoga is the answer.
I highly recommend signing up for a class.
that way you can learn the postures correctly
and you wont punk out and only do it once or twice.

yoga will cure your back trouble
and strengthen/loosen your hamstrings which I suspect
is the root of your problem - weak/inflexible hamstrings
tend to cause back trouble particularly in the lower areas.

Yoga can most certainly help back problems BUT you need to see a teacher to make sure you dont do any postures that can further your back problem.. Some postures are not for everybody.

Perhaps you can also try improving your posture.. it seems like everyone I know has terrible posture.

yeah, good advice.
let the instructor know of your pain.

follow proper form
